The last ride of my season the port engine suddenly stopped .
I looked around the bilge didn't see anything . Checked the oil and the level was up 5" higher than full .
Pulled the engines stripped them down pulled the heads off and found a fist sized hole in the cylinder wall and this is whats left of the piston .
Anyone in the market for a boat anchor ?
In the market for some new power .
I'm looking at replacing the 500HPs or 650 or even better a pair of 572 / 750 hp . What kind of performance can I expect from that kind of power in my 95 Top Gun Kevlar with a full cabin ?

1Bagger,
"It suddenly stopped", eh? Does that really describe the events? What really happened to cause this much damage and is it repeatable with the new engines you're planning? Can I watch, this time?

when the port motor just stopped . No big bang no parts no fire nothing . I think it all happened in 1 or two turns of the crank .
I was very disappointed ( susprised) when we pulled the heads off yesterday . To see that much damage . I really believed I was in for a freshening / rebuild . I wish it was more spectacular .
Zero Patience.
I was hoping for mid 80s . I get 70 with 500s adding another 500hp should give more than 10 or 12 ?
I will post a pic of the block when I can .
Too bad this happened now I was looking at trading for another boat .

I would expect a better show also, looking at the price of the ticket...I feel for your loss. I'm interested in the cause given the 4000 rpm and no "big bang"...look forward to your pics of the block.
What do the heads look like - particularly the one over the slug in the picture?

My 97 Kevlar Gun with bone stock Merc 600 SC's and 26 P Merc props 1.36 ratio Bravo Xrs ran 81 to 82GPS mph in the heat of the Summer fresh water fully loaded.
With 850s after we worked our bottom of the hull she ran low 90s a best of 94gps with labbed 29 pitch mercs and Max Machine billet 1.35 ratio drives. I would guess mid 80s with 750hp perour previous Gun experience..
I wouldn't suggest running any where close to 750 hp with any Bravo style drive as you will be limping home more enjoying her.
Even detuned and literally babying her in and out of the water running mid 80s every few months we would be stranded, Pop.
Konrad or 3As for a heavy rig with over 650 Hp or so other wise for the $ you will have in her replacing drives you could by a stepped hull with small power run 85gps and never look back.
I learned the hard way!
Good Luck
