Default Price to rebuild.

Hi all,

I have a question for the mechanics. I have my twin 350's (bone stock) at a local machine shop. They have quoted me a price to rebuild both engines, repaint and test run them for approx. $9,200.00 for both. That's not including the marine parts that my mechanic has to install once he gets the engines back. Am I gettin' hosed or is this about right? They are replacing all bearings, all four heads with a "beefed up" head (not stock), piston rings, new oil pans and I'm sure other stuff as well. The block's have also been or will be magnafluxed. i'm sure there are things I'm leaving out, but the question still stands. Am I gettin' hosed?

Thanks,

sulfur1

That may be a touch high, but I don't know what exactly is being replaced. If the heads are new and all of the parts going in it are quality aftermarket parts(ie. Manley valves, Comp or Crane springs etc) then it is not to high. It all depends on what parts they are using and how much machine work is being done. Like I said, if they are using non-stock, aftermarket parts, then it is not to high. Hope this helps, Eddie.

From what you posted, its impossible to tell if the price is too high. It depends on what parts are being used. Just the heads and valve train used could make the price vary 3k.
