If heads have been o-ringed can they be used with regular gaskets?I always thought the block was o-ringed.Or are both? Look at these heads.

Must use copper head gaskets with o-rings. Those Darts are pretty thick, and if they already have not been decked to death, its possible, if your not going blown, to deck out the grooves. If he was only using .031 wire, than the groove should only be around .029 deep. But if your going big- blown, stick with o-rings and reciever grooves on the other side.

Probably not, but it depends on exactly where they cut the o-ring grooves. You will definitely have to remove the o-rings, which can be a real bear sometimes. If the grooves are not in the same area where the gasket fire ring seals, then you might get away with it. This is pretty rare, and probably will not happen.

Stay away. The o-ring can be removed and the grooves welded and then mill the heads. Your best set up is to go to Cometic head gaskets and Do Not run any o-rings of any type. I have tested multiple techniques in sealing head gaskets. If your block and heads have no thing done yet- run the Cometics like I have mentioned. If your blocks is o-ringed , it is VERY important the o-ring wire protrusion is the correct height. (.010-.012) I have a special copper head gasket with composition water inserts . You NEVER want or need to run an o-ring block/head and receiver grooves for a marine application. To many car guys trying to be marine builders out there. It doesn't work very well. I hope this shines some truth on your question.
