MEfi on RH inboard 330 MK4 454 ? Can it be done ?

Wanting to put a '98 Mercruiser 454 Iron oval port manifold Mefi Efi on a 330 Mk4 454 RH opposite rotation inboard.
Can this be done ? Dosen't the impulse comes off the ignition ? Maybe the efi can be Re-mapped ! This would be some great info to put in my back pocket !
I want to do this for one of my Dad's boats, motor is already in and was setup with a backward engine from the get go. Chrysler 440 from it BTW is rebuilt never used and in the shop if anyone needs it ...
Thanks, Bill

I can't see why not? The MEFI 1-4 has only two injector drivers so they're grouped 4+4. The cam shaft and distributor has std rotation even in opposite rotating engines.
The ECU probably has to be re-mapped anyway since I guess the oval port intake initiates from the Vortec engine with very different flow characteristics in the heads.

Hey Billy,
Sounds like a fun project. So you are using a L29 MPI setup? A '98 would make it a MEFI 3? You would have to reflash the ECM, and it might take a little tweaking to get it right, but I think it could be done.
The two challenges that come to mind are injector timing and knock control. I don't know if the injector timing would matter much, since the injectors pulse on top of a closed intake valve. The L29's use two knock sensors which are "tuned" to a specific frequency and I don't know if they would work correctly on the Mk IV block.
I would contact Bob Radke at MEFIburn. He is THE man when it comes to MEFI controllers. He has been extremely helpful on a few issues that I have had.
