I was wondering if anyone had a link to a thread with some speed numbers. I did a search and couldnt find anything.
I am looking to figure out what 28's will run with things like lets say a single 500hp, twin 500hp etc.
Trying to be a more educated buyer here!
Thanks.

With a "full pleasure" set up:
Single 500 Carb. Merc. : 67 - 69 MPH
Single 500 EFI Merc. : 70 - 71 MPH
Single 525 EFI Merc. : 72 - 74 MPH
Single 650 HP : 78 - 82 MPH
Single 725 - 750 HP : 84 - 87 MPH
Twin 496 HO - 425 HP Mercs. 81 - 83 MPH
Twin 500 EFI Mercs. 91 - 93 MPH
Twin 525 EFI Mercs. 93 - 95 MPH
It all depends on water conditions, temperature, elevation, fuel and passenger load, labbed prop - stock prop , engine torque , and driver.
The newer 28s have been running a few mph faster than the older ones due mainly to the weight savings of new lamination.
Our new "twin stepped" bottom 28' should be atleast 12-14 % faster with equal HP. We will find out soon !!!

My motor makes around 725-750 and I've seen 87 in my boat with just the wife and I and less than a half tank of fuel. The water was perfect and it wasn't a super hot day. I actually might be able to squeeze a touch more out of it cause when I returned that day my transom was a little black from running rich, but I'd rather have running a little rich cause it's safer than leaning and trying to get every last MPH out of it. I see a consistent 84 almost any day of the week! I would love to see 90 once but I think I'm going to need allot more power to hit that mark so I think a blower may be in my future
The best part about running that number that day was a guy was running his mouth about how fast his Sunsation was, and told me my boat was a heavy pig that wouldn't move it's own a$$ out of the way. He left about 20 minutes before me and waited for me to leave so when I got out there I put it on him. My wife was egging me on, so I shut him up
