I'm in the planning part of upgrading the stereo in my Sonic. I've done lots of searching thru old threads, lots of good info, but I still have some questions about the best way to hook it up safely & properly.
I'm only looking at about an 800w system....2 MTX amps, ta3404, & ta3401. Web site shows both at 400w, but I'm not sure if that is a max watt rating. I think that is rms, just not sure. I'll be running four 6 1/2" in cockpit area, & two 10" subs under bench seat.
So my questions are...
1. Can I hook a 3rd battery to the #2 pos on my selector switch & install an isolator between the batteries?
2. How do I determine what size isolator I need?
3. Do I connect the amps directly to the 3rd battery, or do I connect it thru the selector switch?
4. Will I be better off running a distribution block for the amps? Or run separate cables for each amp?
5. Do I leave the stereo connected the way it is now, or hook it up to the 3rd battery?
I do appreciate any & all input on this....I want to have some tunes for the summer....

Good choice on the Amps. Digital for the sub is efficient. As far as the distribution block..my preference would be to run one to keep cable clutter around the batts to a minimum. I dont have an answer for you on the otther issues.
