i have found a good deal on 2 pair of gil exhuast. the problom is after doing research on the board, i am hearing of some real bad horror stories about them cracking very easy, and reversion probloms. i just dont know if taking a short cut is worth risking two new motors. i was thinking mybe brand new emi's or dana's instead? whats your opinions on this. thanks

i would say buy my gil's... i'm kidding. i know what u mean but i have not had reversion problem's in the past and no cracks. as long as they were never run without water they should be fine u just have to trust the seller. tuff call.

I have Danas on my single engine Baja and I love them. I really hate jerking someone around on a deal, but I just laid out alot of money on two hp500s and would hate to kill them by taking the cheap way out.

If there was an exhaust that made good power, didn't break and leak and was relatively affordable, all the other exhaust manufacturers would go out of business.
Any aluminum manifold run without water in it is going to fail. Gil's fail more often because there are just more of them. The Gil-made manifolds that came stock on Mercruisers have a higher failure rate than their aftermarket manifold. There are theories as to why but who really knows?
I've had good luck with the Gil manifolds.

i here more about people haveing cmi's getting leaks or any stainless for that matter. as soon as 3 to 4 years. i know gil's are better than that, and cheaper less u got $ to burn for some pretty polished stainless. i was even told the gil's dyno out more hp by a rep. engine shop
