Default carbs.. carbs and more carbs..

Ok..I wondfer if this is an easy fix or not...
I am crusing about 15-20 mphs... nail the throttle down and the engine bogs down... almost stalls.. like it is getting to much fuel to quickly.. can anyone tell me what I can look for as a possible fix..

I would check to see if your timing is advancing.

Accelerator pumps working? Power valve leaking would run bad all the time and make lots of soot on the transom. Lack of accelerator shot or too much would produce the same effect as would the lack of timing advance.

Also, have you done any work lately? Wrong spark plugs for example? Short plugs when the heads need long plugs. If you have performed maintenance recently look at what you changed.

Sounds like accelerator pumps. They go bad over time and when they do not work it will lean the engine and bog real bad on a hard acceleration. I bet if you accelerate real slowly there is no problem.

Is it related to a bow lift? (ie: you nail it and the bow comes up and it starts to stall?)

If so.... dump the water out of your separator. The gas floats on top of any accumulated water. The gas runs over the top of the water, but then when you go to hit the throttle the carbs get some water.
Maybe instead of "too much fuel" it is not enough because of the water.

BTW... YOLO is running an OMC 5.7 with shift assist and a holley carb.
I only know this because I keep trying to help him with every problem, since I used to run OMCs.

Accelerator pumps most likely culprit. Ignition not advancing properly would be the second thing I would look at.
