Havent done one of these in a few years. I was wondering if anyone knows of a place online that shows the part numbers I need and how to do it all properly.

Also, how often should the thermostats be changed??

T-stats. Never knew of a replacement schedule, other than replace if in doubt or bad.

You can buy all the parts you need a kit for whatever you have.

the easiest way I think is to pull the whole pump with the bracket off ...put it in a vice and remove the plastic housing .....6 bolts? ... remove the old impeller ...inspect the wear plate and inside of the housing ....if its been more than a cpl of years you might want to order the whole kit ( impeller ,housing,wear plate,bolts, orings) .... take a big pair of needle nose pliers and twist the impeller into the housing ...clockwise ..(doesnt really matter it will flip) ...bolt the housing on the pump/bracket ....then install on the motor ....m

A t-stat kit with tstat and gaskets should run $15-20 at local boat store; pretty cheap and easy to do if you've already got the wrenches out. The impeller & housing kit should run $65-100 at the same place.

I have '91 motors, so v-belt arrangement. Instead of pulling any of the brackets or trying to loosen the belts, I loosen the pump mounting nuts and the pulley bolts enough to get the belt off. Then remove the pulley, then the pump. I can't remember whether I prefer loosening the hoses before or after, but if you can get to them, it's usually better to loosen stuff while it is still attached.

Make specific note of which bolts go where, there are two different lengths. A little of your favorite water based lube and you can twist the impeller in the new housing by hand.

Installation is the reverse of removal.

see what some people think about the run dry impellers. There was a thread on this some time back but I don't remember the out come.

Just remember to lube up the vanes. Dish-soap works good, then you don't have to worry so much about getting the vanes the right way.
