Oil Gallery Plugs
#1
Can anyone tell me where the oil gallery plugs are on an HP 500 EFI? Gotta find one to hook up the master lubes , looked in the parts manual for a blowup view, and they list the oil gallery pipe plugs, but don't really show where they are located in the block, any ideas?

The oil galley plugs are located in the timing chain cover and in front of the flywheel. When looking at the front or the back of the motor, they are directly inline with the lifter bores and above the cam shaft.

You may be able to find one near the oil pressure sender. If there is not a spare one there you can probably use a T at the sender itself. I am assuming you need to hook up a hose and this can't be done at the plugs in the frt or rear of the block.

boathead,
Mine also has a pipe plug at the front, near the oil pan on the odd firing number side. A tee should also work at the filter pad.
Is there any conscern with the remote filters draining while sitting and it using some of the oil in the tank to refill it before the motor gets primed? This is with the Master lube system, not the ones with pumps. Thinking it will be my next purchase.
Thanks
Jerry

US1Fountain,
that's also my concern, whether or not the filter will drain, kinda defeats the purpose of the preluber, I want to make sure that I find an attachment point that doesn't drain the oil filter. I'm concerned about hooking up to the adapter, but I can't even find the pipe plug that's supposed to be there! Don't want to pull the timing cover to hook this up if I can help it.

Uh, boathead. You cannot hook this up to the plugs behind the timing cover (#2) or the ones in the back behind the flywheel. That's kinda like trying to mount it to the crankshaft itself. No can do.
I 'believe' that these Masterlube units hold a couple of qts. so if they do have to partially refill the filter, it still will have plenty to prelube.
Should also have a plug on top of the block right behind the intake where the distributor would be (#3). That one is normally not used for anything and just plugged. Any one you find should work. Or the plug #3 towards the front lower corner. NOT the middle #3 plug. Water and oil don't mix.
