A little help....prop?
#1
Gentlemen,
I have an older Daytona. It is a 1988 27' daytona, it used to have the 260 hp 2,5's .
I have had the boat re-rigged with 2008 300xs and Bobs 4" hyd. jackplates on a 12.5 " aluminum setback.
I am currently running a 32 maximus style 5 blade, which isnt working out very well for this setup.
I was wondering if anyone could help me with some ideas on props and if anyone has a setup that is somewhat close to mine. I had the boat weighed. With 3/4 tank of gas and gear she is 6000 lbs.
I have some 5 blade clevers coming from throttle up, 15 1/4 x 32.
The boat had 14.5 x 28 on the 260 setup. with no jackplate. IT ran 80.
MY goal is 90ish.
I think it is possible with this new setup.
I just wanted to see if anyone had some advice or experience , because I think the props are my key to the next few mph....
Any constructive criticism is apreciated, and thanks for any help.

I have same boat rigged with 2004 300x's. mine is a 1988 27 daytona. Owned since new. First set engines were 275 hp V8 johnsons. Switched in 1991 to 3- 2.5efi offshores. Saw 100 mph once in a while. Now have 2-300x's. Started with 14.5 x 32 3 blade mercury cleavers--no go. Now I have 14.5 x 30 mercury 4 blade labbed cleavers. Good hole shot. Good all around. Best speed 89 mph. Average top speed 84 mph. Freshwater. I have also got 15 x 28 3 blade mercury cleavers. Same performance, but I lost a blade once. Also tried 14.5 x 30 et lightnings and saw no improvement. I think the best all round are the 4 blade cleavers. I haven't tried bravos but would not mind trying.
