I run 250's on my engines and really like them. I would think you would be happy with them on your 500 HP's. My only suggestion is make sure you get your carbs dialed in. If your carbs are set up right you it will idle and run great for you.
Good luck.

I would suggest BLOWER SHOP blowers. The end pieces are all billet...not cast like B&M or Holley...a far superior unit for about the same money. Call Rick Bourns at CP Performance
( www.cpperformance.com ) and he can fix you up.

Since it sounds like your loking at a used set up, try the classifieds. There were two merc 420 set ups ( complete) for sale. Those are suted to the 500 even better than the 250's, due to it's ability to make good boost at a slower rotor speed. Probably not a big difference in price also.

Made 645HP with 502 / 8.75/1 comp, dart 2 al heads, lunati cam, 7# boost, intercooler, v6 thunderbolt module for a total of 27 degrese for total timing. Ran 91-93 oct in winter months and AV gas in summer. Over 175 Hrs on motor till I sold boat. Had pyrometers on each side and watched egt's carefully.
