Default New vs slightly used Ilmor?

I'm outfitting a boat w/a 625-Ilmor and may have run across an oppurtunity to get one that has between 20-30 hours. It's being sold back through Ilmor and they will have gone through it and will put a 1yr warranty on it (so I'm told so far). Currently Ilmor is putting a 2yr warranty on their new motors.

I can pick up the slightly used one for $6K less... is that worth the difference in not knowing where it's been (although Ilmor is supposed to go through it) as well as having a 1yr instead of a 2yr warranty.

Thanks in advance!

Thats a tough call. My variables (if i were buying) would be 1. Do I want an additional YEAR of warranty and 2. Options of choice on your engine package vs. what we have thats "used"

Think of the value of 2 years of piece of mind.

How many hours a year will you run? What is the hour life of new before rebuild? Maybe ask for 18 mo warranty on the used?

Good information fellas... I'm also leaning to the 'new'... for all the same reasons. I'll see what they come back with and go from there. I just hate to spend that much on an engine package and not know what the first fella did during the break-in period and so forth.

My hours a year aren't too great, usually about 25-ish due to the length of season where I live. So having 20-30 hours on a motor is like loosing a year for me... not sure that sits too well w/me.
