I have been told to directly route the discharge side of the merc trans cooler thru the transom instead of thru the exhaust manifold. Sounds simple enough.... Anyone have a suggestions / comments on this or pics? I'm always a bit nervous when it comes to drilling holes in my boat.

It is highly recommend vs. running the discharge out the exhaust. I ran both of my discharges out the same side...I can take a quick look and at my cooling water flow and know I am pumping water. I got some nice tru hull S.S. fittings from Eddie marine that were for 3/8th hose and they look great.

a little of topic but how much hp. are you guys putting through those merctrans?

So you went out the side (I'm assuming the right side) near your bilge thru hull?

Just stock 454/330HP

Mine are run with 3/8 thru hole out the transom near the exhaust.

330's w/holleys and HEI.

I have dry pipes so all my water discharges through the black fittings you see in the picture. As I rebuild the boat these are being replaced with SS through hull fittings.
