------Im lucky enough to live down the road from Algonac and see old #10 frequently around here at local events and seeing it never gets old. With all that length the driver and Mechanic sat right up against the stern. As well, there were no transmissions that could take the torque so the boat was essentially direct drive. If you go to the museum on the wharf in Algonac you can actually see video of #10 being pushed away from the dock before it is started, at which time it is instantly in motion even at idle, or what passes for an idle!!!
------I believe it was restored by the Mayeas who still build the most beautiful wood boats in the world,,,Mays Crafts. The workmanship is superb, absolutely superb!!! I was lucky enough to be invited aboard a 38 foot Mays Craft by Larry Mayea at a local show not long ago and I just couldnt believe the quality. Google Mays Craft and you will get a look at real "old world perfection".........Bill S
