I am looking for some neon/led lights for my engine compartment. I did a search here and saw a few threads on it ,
but there's no definitive answer. Ive seen the Sunsation F4's they look like they have a bright kit in them.
One thread suggested Street Glow name brand.


Trying to decide on length and the led or neon in blue.Thanks for any suggestions

Would they light up my motors at night enough,mounting under the side and end panels?

LED light are much more durable and less likely to rupture. Not to mention LED lights last longer. I would go with LED's for sure, but just my 2 cents............

The LED is the way to go. Less power draw than neon and longer lasting. You could leave the LED's on for a week and still be able to start your boat.

You got any pics of the cockpit/bilge with the lights on? I've always liked that touch at the docks....looks sharp!!

Oh, and I would go with the blue lights....i think that would compliment your boat/engine compartment better with the paint you have

This is four 48" brite white LED strips; one front, rear, port, and starboard, facing in and down at a 45 degree angle. Each strip has just six LED's, and no lenses. At night, you need sunglasses to look in here.

Would that put out as much as a 30 or 48 inch light.

I thought about the strips to.. Easier to install but you can't focus them where you want them. I got smaller LED lights and I was able to direct them right on the chrome and areas in the cockpit I wanted highlighted. I used mostly blue with a few yellow. THe "directional" LED's are brighter.. they dont spread the light s much as the strips but, I didn't wanted a bright bilge or cockpit area more a suddle, focused accents on the chrome and on my white interior. Stay with the smaller LED.s (my .02) You want a bright motor housing. ?? put in a flood light..
