Question Cam Specific Sticky Thread Suggestion.

G'day All,

Please hear me out but I have a suggestion...

I think this forum needs two things:

1) A dedicated Engine Tech Forum and;

2) A 'Sticky' Thread (stays at the top of the list) dedicated to Cam selection, problems or information.

The Sticky could be summary of all the various hundreds of posts dedicated to helping us choose a cam right for our engine. I think we could go one better and have a quick summary of which cams in which combo's do what and what one works best in a general sense.

Ideally the thread could have an intro or summary by none other that "Mr. Marine Cam" himself, RMBuilder / Bob Madara of Marine Kinetics in N.Y. If he would be so willing as to just write a quick blurb to summarise general advice on what works best in what (again very general) application.

I think the amount of posts here asking cam questions warrants a dedicated thread that all can go to, to find (hopefully) some answers.

I know I have learned nearly all I know of marine cams simply searching and reading the endless archives of cam posts on OSO but I just want to make it easier for everyone!

I could summarise the cam spec lists from Dennis Moore's book and the cam manufacturer websites too if that helps?

Any thoughts anyone? Please let me know if we think this is a good idea, or if I'm way off base!

I think you'd have a 100 page thread talking about too many combinations and it would take forever to go through.

The advanced search option can lead anybody to info if they use it.

3/4 of threads have the advice to contact rmbuilder anyway
