Can I get some input on a supercharger on a 7.4 454 in a 1994 Baja 208 islander? I am debating on selling it to get a bigger faster boat or keeping it and putting a pro charger or whipple on it and saving until next fall to spend a littlemore money on a bigger boat.
1.Has anyone ever put a supercharger on a 21ft boat?
2.What kind of speed gain will i see?
3. Is this a safe idea only being a 21ft boat? all input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Ahhhh, I can teach you grasshopper.
You need to budget about 3 times what you think you will spend. You will need full hydraulic steering, upgraded drive components (assuming you have a Bravo drive) and a new propeller at a minimum.
You will then learn that your boat is going to be spooky at speed & your money should have been saved to buy what you wanted instead of settling on an upgrade to a boat that you aren't really happy with to begin with.
I won't say what I've spent on my boat, but I will tell you that is was too much.

Words of wisdom,I wouldn't go crazy on a 208 islander,you will never be able to run any kind of real speeds with any degree of safety and every dollar you spend will never be re-couped when you decide to move up. It will actually be difficult to ever sell your boat once its modified because its at the entry level end of the spectrum and any mods will scare 99.9% of any prospective buyers,Smitty

I would not advise it, by the time you spend money on steering, prop, you are just better off buying another boat.

That much HP in that hull could end up dangerous.
