I was thinking the old 6.5's had less power/tq than the gas 454's.......GM needed to ditch that platform right after it hit the market.

I bought mine off the side of the road on a Sunday afternoon, in virginia, drove to CT, picked up my boat, turned around and drove home with it - had 286,000 on it when I bought it - sold it to buy something newer with 294,000 on it.

I towed my Cafe Racer with it on a fully boxed steel Manning - I bet fully loaded it was 15000. Wasn't real fast away from the lights but good enough - it had drums in the back and that was a noticeable difference when I moved up to my current F350.

3rd gear Syncro's are a problem (if manual)....

I've got a 1998 3500 454 4x4 crew cab dually, I think the weakest part is the brakes. At least compared to the Fords and Dodges I've been in......

Mine has 175k and needs a couple of fuel injectors, other than that all seems fine.

Yeah, my rear brakes suck! The front always lock up. I was thinking of putting a dif proportioning valve on it.

I have been towing my 32 with a gas 454, 90 Dually , since 03. I have had good service out this old truck. I did install a new motor last year @ 213,000 miles.
