Default PreOuts & Non at the same time?

Question. Currently I'm running my deck out to the pre-amp rca jacks and into the amp ----> to the original speakers.

Can I also run the "non" pre's (regular L/R F/R) wires to power other speakers and drive that with the 40watt smaller stuff. Id like to use the regular wired stuff for the cabin speakers, and others under the rear bench. The current ones to the amp are running the master L&R that came in the boat. (gijantic mo-gater, don't wanto remove it stuff that would mean pulling the bolsters).

Thank.........................Bob

Cool

Yes you can use the (to speaker) wires to drive small speakers and still use the amp to drive the big speakers.

That is the way my kennwood is hooked up. The amp is for the cabin speakers and the standard speaker out is hooked up to the back.

yup. Right now, the amp in your head unit is not being loaded at all.

You can absolutely do that and it is done all the time. More then likely the amp runs off the back channel so if you fade back you will have tunes in the cockpit. If you fade forward you will have them in the cabin. I also like to toss a switch in there just in case you want to have your stereo on in the cabin and not in the cockpit. Yes you can fade forward but if you just do that the amp will still be on and draining your battery.

Same answer as Audiofn. You did not say if you had 2 or 4 speakers in the cabin, if you have 4 speakers in the cabin you need to run them in series to have the front to rear fading capability as Audiofn suggested. Your head unit will not like seeing a 2 ohm load. Forrest

Thanks for the replies.........That is good, because when I replaced the original Blaupunkt head, I also got rid of the "rats nest" extra stuff someone added. What I had was no music to the cabin speakers, and wanted to also put another set under the rear bench. (the original setup had them right next to the bolsters and dont want to remove them).

.............thanks again!!!!!!!

I just re-checked the current setup.

The head unit rca pre-outs are running into a 300w amp, and to the cockpit left and right speakers. There is nothing running to the two 6" cabin speakers (front), or the rear under bench 6x9's.

So......It sounds like I can use the wired front and rear for these other speakers?

Yes, that is correct. Just out of curiosity, where did you mount the amplifier?

BajaBoss252.........The amp is mounted underneath the dash (inside the cabin behind some access doors) right next to the master wire panel. This is the original that came with the boat back in 86', and I must admit is a very very clean setup. The actual head unit (i replaced with an Alpine w/remote) is just to the left when you step down into the cabin. I just plugged the pre-outs to the rca jacks that were already there. All of those other speakers and stuff were (I think) powered by some other smaller amp and "rats nest" as an after-thought. I ripped all that out. I would say though. The power to the 300w amp comes directly from the battery switch area, not from the master fuse panel. Nice heavy guage wire, tacked down and fused.
