In a new one you should be close to 100 with twin 300's i would think. Close to 80 with a single 496ho maybe. To break 100 with an inboard you will need 700hp maybe. THat will eat bravos.

These are just a guess.

Cool factor+speed=Merc 300s. Color-keyed engine cowlings are a plus as well.

A 27 Daytona with a 525EFI will run right around 85mph. Not sure what one will do with twin 300 OB's, but I would guess it would be around 100mph.

Go the the twin 300 outboards.

Outboards. You can change out a powerhead and be back on the lake in two hours. Inexpensive in comparison to a modded V-8. Fuel. I run twin ported 260s and can play for $50.00 a day at $3.50 a gal. Better acceleration with twin screws.
