If one were to want to use standard floating JE pistons on Mercury Racing rods, what would have to be done to the rods (bore and bush) "or" is the pin still a standard .990 that is press fit into the rod.?
Meaning will the JE pins press fit into the Merc rods?

Answered my own question thru JE. The .990 pin can float in a floating rod or be pressed into the Merc or GM rod.

Just make sure that you dont actually "press" them into the rod. The correct way is to heat the end of the rod in a rod heater to a specific temperature so the pin will simply slide in and then lock in place as the rod cools.

Don't the 525efi's use Manley bushed rods? I've seen pictures of them complete with the Mercury racing etching on them.

Yes they are the nice rods but they are pressed and not floating. Strange I thought.
