2008 F-450 Wheels & Tire Questions
#1
What do you guys use to polish the wheels on your factory F-450 wheels. Mine look dull, and the dealer scuffed them up a little when I had the tires rotated. Dealer claims it was where the two wheels have contact in the rear and now they are the opposite way on the front of the front of the truck.
Has anyone changed their tires to a better tire for winter conditions? I'm due for tires but the OEM tires are very poor in the snow. Did you leave the size the same or go a little taller?

I have not had to polish mine yet.I don't believe the dealer on the scratch issue. The part that touches are covered by the chrome hub covers.I had ordered some 22.5 wheels and tires for mine but am going to just go up in tire size for now.The current tires are 225/70/19.5's.I am moving up to a 265/70/19.5.I don't need snow traction so I am going with a more of a quiter steer tire for all six.I think the bigger tire will fill the fender well pretty well.

When I had mine rotated, they told me the correct way to do it, is to keep each wheel where it came from, and demount the tires, and remount them where they need to go. That way, the wheels never get scratched from the duals on back to the up fronts.
I've never had to polish mine yet, but then again, I just sold it last week, so I'll let the new owner worry about that.

Chuck, They do not seem to make the greatest tread selection for the 19.5. For winter driving I bought a spare set of wheels and had my old tires recapped with a aggresive snow mud tread pattern. They work alot better than the highway tread I run during the summer and it only cost $50 per tire less than the cost of one new 19.5.
