Fastech Drives - Turn "In" or "Out"

The factory turns them out, but you may want to try turning them in. I have tried both ways several times and ended up going back to "in" everytime( I have a 353). It seems to handle better "in" and I think it gives you a little more bow lift. Now around the dock....well let's just say you will need to practice a little!

In theory more bow lift would mean less wetted surface and more speed...
but it's really about the attack and relief angle of the step(s).
also if you have "bow lift" not "whole boat lift" you may well be in turn leveraging the transom down to some degree.
you'll only know if you try it. If any advanvantages that may exist on your boat, outwiegh the disadvantages.
I personally would leave 2-3 MPH (if any?) on the table and take much better off plane and dockside response/handling anyday.

I had a 312 (502's) that were turning in when I bought it used......I soon turned them back out. Never ran it enough to really know what the speed difference was, but docking it was noticably better turning out.
If you turn them in, you might as well dock the boat spinning the wheel like a single engine boat.

Speed difference for me was both top end and at cruise. About 2-3 (right on track Rip). And yes, spinning the wheel at the dock is VERY common. After a few tries, it's not so bad. I will be messing around with lowers and more spacers this spring, and will do some more testing in / out to see if it is really worth it. If it's not...I may go back out!
