Spring suspension to torsion suspension
#1
My trailer in in need of repairs/upgrades.
I am thinking that I will go with torsion axles, but Dexter says they don't really recommend trip torsion axle setups.
I know Myco & Heritage use trip torsion axles. I assume they are using Dexter axles.
Any issues I should be aware of?

I have triple torsion 6k axles on my '08 Manning trailer. 2k miles last summer and no issues, no regrets yet. I also have the Kodiak disks on all axles with electric over hydralic and it works great.
Mine are Axis axles:

Also using 235-75-16 E load rated tires.

I have proven over seven years now and 60K + miles that torsion is by far the better option over springs and you will have fewer flat tires especially when you have to jackknife the trailer.
Torsion + Load Range "E" tires = Many Miles of Trouble Free Operation
Less Maintenance and MUCH easier to change a flat if you were to get one. No Jack required.
Haven't I told you this before?

Dexter does not recommend triple torsions because of possible
overloading of an axle should you, for instance, go over a curb and lift 2 axles off the ground, you are overloading the remaining axle that is on the ground. With spring/equalizer
axles, the load is distributed over the 3 axles.
