Default 496 leak

I had a water leak on the brass fitting on my port side of the motor. Its the housing were all the little winterizing lines goto.
My mechanic pulled the part and bypassed it with a piece of pvc pipe and im not by anymeans questioning him cause he is a good mechanic im just wondering has anyone else heard of this. Im not to concerned about the ability to winterize so will this work

Thanks

I wouldn't use PVC, but you can use a piece of brass pipe. I've done it on mine in a pinch when that actuator goes bad; once kept the piece of pipe in the for a year.

There are actually 2 of those actuators per motor, so it helps to keep the piece of pipe close by in case of emergency.
