Any OSO members near Reno? Thinking seriously about attending the air races this Sept. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would start calling April 1 for hotels. Most of them have 800 numbers. The Nugget in Sparks is very nice, on a Victorian Street, very safe, prices tolerable.

The second weekend after Labor Day is the Balloon Fest, then air racing starts the next day. Monday through Wednesday are qualifying days, Thursday through Sunday are races days. Qualifying has been free in the past. Tickets are available.

There will be two private F-104's flying demos this year, pretty neat. Racing is great - this is the ONLY place you can see this type of unlimited air racing in the world.

The event was totally wiped out by 911 last year so all the racers are hungry.

and head over to Lake Tahoe if you have never
been there.
My wife also found some
HOT slots last Nov. at the
Atlantis Hotel.
Lots of things to see.
