Can anyone point me to any articles/pictures on B&M 2 speed marine transmissions? I just bought 3 of them and am looking for information on how they were coupled to the flywheel. If anyone knows where there are any couplers lying around for these transmissions I would appreciate a helping hand. Thanks for any help.

Those trans are chrysler torqueflites. A couple guys on this board have run them.

I'm guessing you just need some kind of coupler. Brummett Marine was the last company to sell those trans.

there are two shops that are "torqueflite specialist" on this list. you can find a picture of a direct drive coupler for a powerglide trans on tci's website.

I was under the impression that a torqueflite was a 3 speed transmission. Could they be highly modified powerglides? They have decals that say PMT 1000, (performance marine transmission). Here is a picture of the input. What has been the experience of the people that have run them?

We did one boat with them back in the day. Snotty carburated motors, used low gear to get on plane. I have 2 (with drive plates) at the shop. I'll take a picture tommorrow.

They are real picky as to the flywheel housing/crank shaft alignment.

I think I have a brochure from the guys that took the line over from B&M.

I had a pair in Mr. Technology. One of them locked in 1st gear. Got it fixed, locked in 1st gear again first time out. Threw them out and got Hubers.

I understand they are fine if you leave them in 2nd gear. Good luck.

Powerglide are two speeds, unless modified.

I think RonP has the most experience with them on this board???

I have them in my Cat, I love em. Something different. I've never had any problems.

Vtec is right. they are chrysler torqueflites. I spoke to the shop in Calif. today that has parts for them and is now the sole source for these transmissions. Sounds as if they will work just fine if adjusted correctly. We will see. At least I now know where to go for service and parts.
