I did a search and couldn't come up with much. Wondering if anyone with a 353 has weighed the boat and trailer together. Just trying to get a "Ball Park" on total weight. My guess is with a steel triple axle trailer, 1/2 take of gas the total weight won't exceed 12K??

My 312 weighs 11,400 with gear and just less than a half tank of gas, steel trailer. I am guessing a 353 would weigh about 12,200, if that helps.

Hmmm....a 312 weighs 11.4k. I'm thinking another 4ft of boat & trailer is going to weigh a bit more than 800lbs.

I'm going with 13,701lbs. What's the prize for the best guess?

10K for the boat (empty) from the Formula brochure and at least 2500 lb for the trailer. The tandem axle aluminum Myco under my 35 Lightning was 2500 lb on the MSO. I would say right around 13,000 would be a good number.

Plan on 13k. I was around 12500 with 1/4 tank of fuel. With the truck,2000 chevy four door long box 2wd dually, the whole package weighed in at 19500!

So basically this boat and trailer weigh in higher than the weight rating for F350, Chevy 3500, etc. Do any of you guys use a weight distribution hitch?

I've had my 353 since 06, and now I'm in the market for a new truck. Was leaning towards an F350 or Chevy 3500 Dually, but it is my understanding they are only rated to 12K w/out a weight dist. hitch.

May just go w/ the 450 and not worry about anything!!!

Putnam Hitch rated up to 15000 weight carrying and 1500 tonuge weight. Two friends of mine use their 2500 with a similar hitch and have had NO problems. I tow many more miles than them, so I went with the Dually.

I weighed mine on a truck scale hitched to my F250. I came in at 11,400 lbs with a triple axle aluminum trailer and aprox. 50 gallons of fuel. My tongue weight at the time was only around 240 lbs (if I remember correctly). I have since moved the boat forward as to get 650 lbs tongue weight.

from what I've read on this subject. A dually will buy you more stability but actually decreases your towing capacity due to the added weight of the heavier axle and additional tires (and additional suspension parts/weight). You're looking for the total sum of the truck weight with people, luggage, coolers, tools, etc. and the boat/trailer etc. This is referred to as the GVCW or gross vehicle combined weight this rating is located on the sticker of the driver's side door. You don't want to exceed that weight.
