Old post but I was wondering if anyone else has had their 353 across the scales. Current tow vehicle is a 2002 7.3L Excursion, and I don't really want to sell it. Would be making pretty regular trips from Detroit area to Northern Michigan, Torch Lake an Elk Rapids (4.5 hours).

There are things that can improve the X's towing by reducing the spring wrap of the rear springs. If controlling the boat with the X is a problem, I can direct you to this improvements.

Holy Cow - 250Lbs TW on a 11, 400 load. Jeez, you're lucky that thing didn't go for a ride on you. Even 650 is on the low side.

I have an 01 Excursion 7.3 and towed my 353 from Wisconsin to Cleveland 2 weeks ago. Before the tow I added Firestone airbags and a Hellwig rear sway bar. Also installed poly bushings in spring eyes/sway bars front and back and slotted brake rotors with new pads. This really helped the truck stabilize and tow much better than stock. I still get slight wander with or without load, next will be some highway friendly tires to replace the lugs on now. The Excursion has a sloppy road manner from the factory, springs are too soft and front end parts wear fast. With the mods I did and the 353 behind the truck that's as much as I would want to put behind it.

VooDoo do u have any idea what your boat and trailer weigh in at. I already have a set of airlift bags on the ex, rear sway bar, and some nitto 285 e-rated tires.

Anyone else been on the scales? The one brochure I have says the boats around 9500lbs. Would an early 2000s be lighter?
