I have a 353 Fastech with electronic dropdown bolster seats. The metal parts on the bottom parts of the bolster seats come from the factory painted white. When I purchased the boat, the white paint on these metal parts was chipping off. Is there a particular marine white paint that I should use to touch this up? Should I try to remove the current paint on the metal and start from scratch? I would love to have the parts removed and powder coated purple, as that is the color of my bezels on the dash, but that is more of a project than I would like to take on this year.

For just a touchup of the chips and peeling with them in place, I would just use some regular rustoleum. It flows out ok with a small brush.

Prep and Priming is the key, make sure you get all the loose stuff off and use the proper primer for what ever metal it.

I have also used AWLgrip products$$$. (epoxy) A lot of the custom carolina sportfish builders are using this on their metal work instead of powder coating...a lot easier to repair and it is very durable.

Take them off and support the seats. There is no need to take them off from the sides of the boat. I do believe they are attached to the seats by allen bolts. There is not much paint on the brackets so remove the paint, epoxy prime and paint. Or take it and have a body shop paint them, I would think a couple hundred would take care of it and they would be done properly.
