IMO...NO, NO, NO!!! That total package is close to 10K if full of fuel and gear on board. Your insurance company would not like you if you got into a wreck. of course that is if my thoughs are correct and the 1500 Chevy is NOT rated to tow that much weight. Not too mention, your hitch is NOT rated for that kind of weight either.

Just asking a simple question. I've never towed anything past 7,000 pounds. But thanks for the posts!!

I've had the boat for three years now and was exploring options that I might have this year. I've got a work truck I bought last year and was wondering if it would pull it or not. I also have a 08' 2500HD available that I could use that's not mine. For insurance purposes I would like to use mine but........that's not going to work for obvious reasons

i pull mine with a 04 chevy 2500 and it's tough on it, you know it's back there. I rack store it most of the summer with the occasional shore run. It's not bad because I know the back roads and they are pretty much straight, but if I was doing any kind of real travel/towing I would have to get something a bit more.

I know it's not what you want to hear, but you need a 2500HD to be safe. The 1500 isn't made to pull or stop heavy weights like your boat. Your drive line will pay. Sure, anything will pull it, but like everyone says...safety first
