Question Best 700-1000 hp motors? What do you guys think?

Ok, time to do a little survey kind-a-thing.

Who do you guys think builds the best 700-1000 hp motors?

We are talking brand new motors. No rebuilds, nothing used, not the best-bang-for-the-buck.

Just the finest motors PERIOD.

I would say those 700's in that 38 fountain video.....in the latest edition of Powerboat there is an interview with the owner of Sterling and they are making some NA 700's that sounded good

Tons of high end motor builders out there. I suggest calling a few shops and going with who treats you the best.

I used a local guy who is not a "big name" but builds a lot of local stuff. I have 4 seasons on a high hp (900+) blown tall deck 572. He is not the cheapest but very honest and dependable. IMO finding someone honest and dependable is the biggest thing.......

Also, if cost is no matter why not use the ILMOR 710, Merc 700, or Merc 850.

Best meaning how long before needing rebuilt, best warranty, best at making quoted h.p. thats a lot of different ways to look at the question. Had a pair of KE 1000's that ran great, trouble free, Mercurys 700 sci are in the bilge of my current boat and have had no issues either. Never owned Sterlings, but they are in a lot of race boats for a reason.

It had nothing to do with snooping around. It was just out of my own curiosity. What do you mean by "loaded question" and why does this thread "bother the good people" on OSO?

I don't doubt that you build great engines and parts, I just thought it would interesting to see, what people liked!

To identify myself. Well I'm a kiropraktor from Denmark, and I have just sold my old boat, and plan to restore a Fountain 27 Fever, just for fun, and install either 6.2 MX or 377 small block twins in it. I'm not looking to buy new big power engines, and as said before, just curious.
