Default Remote Oil Filters

I am installing an aftermarket remote oil filter kit on my SBC. Besides the stock factory remote location where does everyone to install the bracket for the filter? What are the pro's and con's of installing the filter upside down (filter pointing up) or like on the block facing down? Would I have a problem attaching the bracket to the transom with some long screws dipped in 5200 or epoxy?

I attached mine to the transom with no problems at all. Made a bracket out of angle iron and painted it. Used 1 1/2 inch SS screws and a little silicone to seal them.

Pro of filter pointing up is you can poke a hole in the top of it when changing, let all the oil run down into the mount as you unscrew it -- Basically you can change it without spilling a drop... if you go slow.
