Default 25 outlaw guage problems

I have an 2001 25 OL and replaced the trim tab guage. Its and insta trim system and the LED's were burnt out on it. When I put the new one in the strbrd side stays all the way lit up as if it were in the down position all the time. Im guessing a short of some kind. Any suggestions on how to check or if I can replace what I assume is the sending unit where the wires split and go to each tab. Also can someone tell me where the sending unit for the trim guage itself is?It will only register all th way up or all the way down. Nothing inbetween. I looked behind the dash when i replaced the trim tab guage and did not see it anywhere. Thanks Matt

the sending unit is on the trim tab ram. Each single baja I sold ( ans that is very many) they never worked. I also replaced a couple of those but they never lasted a complete summer. So, each time I sell a baja with these guages not working, I simply remove the guage and the sender... not perfect, but no more problem... they really are not reliable guages...

He just happened to see me takin the old guage and in conversation offered to buy it through ebay for me. I have no prob with the 7 dollar shipping.

I had the same problem with my guage indicating the right trim tab was ALWAYS all the way down. The trim tab was working, so I figured it was the sender. I detached the sender from the tab ram, but ran out of time to completely remove it. The sender was glued to the ram, so I scraped the glue off and used 2 zip ties to hold the sender on. Later at the lake, the guage was working. I have heard the glue, over time either rises or hardens and causes this problem. Not sure if that is really the problem, but I havent had an issue since moving to the zip tie.
