I was hopeing that a few of you could help me out. I boat on Seneca Lake in Upstate NY. Every year there is a kick a$$ poker run put on by ROPA. They do a great job. The only problem is that this is the ONLY event on the Lake ALL year. I would like to get something else fired up like a regatta, or a fun run. I've already checked with the permits and have received all the forms nessecary for legalality of this event (easier than I thought). I was hoping you could give me a few recommendations on what path to take. Remember, keep idea's simple. I'm a first timer. Advertising the event is no problem. I have the support of all local Marina's.


P.S. If I take donations for a certain cause like the Red Cross or the Cancer society I think I can get some Free Airtime on the Radio. I was thinking of maybe giving prizes for the biggest donations??? If we did it for a "cause" we might not get stereo typed as "Motorheads"

Do a radar run, or benefit BBQ at a large marina.

Yes, If you can get your hands on a good radar gun, I suggest a local
shoot-out. Entry fee and different divisions. Just be careful, it might grow
in popularity, then you'll be doing it every year!

Just make sure you can get event liability insurance for whatever you choose to do. For example, Radar Runs are pretty expensive to get liability coverage for.........

Also make sure that whatever coverage you get will cover not only the event planners, but all of the participants as well.......
