Default Deadrise?..........

Hello all. I purchased my first offshore last year. I was wondering how deadrise is measured. What would be the technical term for the amount of the v-hull that rises out of the water in height. some boats seem to have a lower side profile and others seem to raise high out of the water in the front/bow. Thank you for your input.

Deadrise is the angle of the V at the transom and is measured from horizontal.

I'm not really sure what you mean about the other question???

I kinda thought that too but the "raise high out of the water in the front/bow" threw me.

While I still think you are thinking of lower stern freeboard and higher bow freeboard, perhaps you are thinking of "sheer"

Sheer is the upward curve or amount of upward curve of the longitudinal lines of a ship's hull as viewed from the side. While this is not usually common in performance boats, as most seem to have a fairly level deck height, this seems to fit what you are trying to say the most.
