Anyone know of any problems with the 6.7L Cummins Diesel? I'm looking at a truck with 13K miles on it and just want to make sure there are no issues with that engine.

I think if they have any problems its with the EGR. Although, i dont own one so I dont know first hand. Theres alot of good diesel forums...thedieselgarage.com is a good one if you want to browse around and read about them all.

Lot's of problems. EGR, turbos needing cleaning at 10K miles, O2 sensors, lots and lots of check engine lights and codes. This emissions system is not figured out yet. One guy on the Cummins forum posted a message, "I Hate My Check Engine Light", if that gives you any idea.

Friend has one and had to have something fixed with the turbo system after a month, then the motor blew. They ended up swapping him for the same truck but different color (6.7, mega cab etc). Only has had issues with the egr/regen system since then. Pretty much any of the big 3 though have issues with regen/dpf system, dumb setup. The Ford 6.4's in our fam are all tuned and dpf removed, regen cancelled. Run better then stock and way better mileage. Not sure what has been done as far as that to the 6.7 cummins.

Default 2500 Dodge

We just bought an 08 dodge Mega cab 2500 in early May and based on all the research I did the 6.7 Cummins is the way to go. Drove and researched all the big 3's 08's extensively. First hand experience pulling our 29 Outlaw fully loaded is a breeze. Read a lot online about potential problems because of the green crap before we bought it, but as long as your not sittin around idling all day and driving in stop and go heavy traffic without any freeway stretches we should be fine.

My 2 cents, I pray I'm right

The 6.7 and 6 speed auto is a great combo. I hated the 5.9 and 4 speed auto, sucked, manual trans was way to go with the 5.9

Thumbs up

Had a 06 with the 5.9 auto, traded it for a 08 6.7 auto, I love the 08. The 6 speed auto with exhaust brake is great for towing. I havent had any issues with mine, would buy another one with out a doubt.

Nothin that isnt related to the emissions....and thankfully that can all be removed and bypassed, at the expense of your warranty.....but those would be the reasons you would go in for warranty.

i love my 6.7, ive put about 22k mile on it so far with no issues. I did the emissions delete kit at about 5k miles and it was well worth it. I get much better mileage with the deletes done. And if you know the right dealer they will work with you on warranty issues too.
