Default Autometer GPS directions suck!

There really aren`t any directions now that I think about it. Just a diagram. It has two antenna/receiver and two 12v and ground connections.. one is a plug. No explanation on which to use. Thanx.

The wires on the Hardin GPS receiver are paper thin, actually really ridiculously thin.. Only way to make sure they don`t break off is to solder them IMOP.. which is what i did.
The receiver has a vessel ground.. I`m new to boats but how can there be a vessel ground on an all fiberglass vessel??

So after all that
I hooked up the gauge and it sweeps all the way to 10 (100mph gauge) then 7 then 0.. then 3 and stays there.
Trouble shooting states that if the gauge is stuck at 3 its in the "clear "position on the recall switch.
I don`t even have a recall switch hooked up!

What am I doing wrong? both 12V+ leads are hooked up (from GPS and gauge) along with 12v battery ground and white wire to white wire (from GPS to gauge)

Thumbs down

I got it figured out .. only took half a day thanx to Autometer.

The wire labeled white (receiver/antenna) was actually the Lamp+ hook up for the light. Makes a big difference when your trying to hook up the GPS to a light connection

The sweeping and diagnosis are all wrong also.. and the 30 gauge Hardin Marine wiring didn`t help anything either. and the plug had to be cut off and rewired.

Thanx Autometer!

Gaffrig is almost twice the price.. Autometer is a local company plus they`ve been around a long time you`d think they do a better job..

Now the gauge starts to sweep to 10.. then 7.. then 0 . then it reads the speed and starts all over again.
Of course I have no idea what this means as the instructions are 90% incorrect.

Autometer Marine site isn`t finished and has no info.. hopefully CP can help
