Default Painting/Coating Water Jackets

I keep reading references to painting or somehow coating water jackets on marine engines to prevent corrosion on cylinder liners. Has anyone done this? What kind of paint should I use and how do I apply it?

Thanks, Randy

Iron heads should be fine, even in salt water, if they are flushed well.
