Default Oil Temp What's to hot?

I have my water temp at 140 and oil at 230 and gets to 250 when running faster. Is this too hot should I get bigger oil cooler? I am running no water pump just and raw water pump getting 5-7 pounds water pressure. Other suggestions. I am running 540's with no super chargers. Thanks

we rarely see more then 220 during a race conditions spinning 7400prm. I look for 200-220 as acceptable under load, cruising its about 180 or so (dont like to see much less then that)

I assume he means he doesn't have an impeller in the drive, just the Block mounted Pump....

At least I hope that is the case...

That might be a little too hot. I would recommend a bigger oil cooler. My boat (Fountain) has never gone above 180* at WOT, (500 EFI). What oil are you running?
