Default 32 Active Thunder vs 33 Scarab AVS vs ???

I am going to be looking at some options over winter. I may or may not get into a different boat this coming season, will depend on what I find, but I want some input first from the experts.

I will boat 95% of the time in the great lakes. So I need a rough water boat, and from what I read on here, AT is just that. How does the Scarab AVS handle rough water? What are the cabins like? Stand up room?

Speed is another, but I would rather have better rough water handling, than the last 3-4 MPH.

I also put the question marks in the title, what else would you guys recommend, right around 30-33' twin engine, deep vee.

Thanks for any input you guys can give!

32 AT will ride better in the rough than a 33 Scarab....but you are right, the Scarab will probably be a few MPH faster with the same power. Other boats to look at are the 31-34 Sutphens, 32 Hustler, 35 Cigarette cafe...

Fly down to A/T and have pat take you for a demo ride in the new 33, you will be sold in a heart beat, they have great deals on them right now. Its hard to beat the A/T in the rought water. Could use a few more cult members up this way anyway.

I think a new boat is going to be a little out of my price range. I really dont want to go above $500-550/Mo I have found a couple used 32' A/T and with the money down, they are around or under $500 /mo.

I like my 32 hustler straight hull notched transom. But i moved up to a 35 Cafe, so im trying to move it. I dont have any issued with it. Ive been in 6's or so back from block with it following a 33 A/T. That also runs really well in some good water.

I have been in both and I think that statement is debateable. In reality both are solid rough water performers

I've been on both, but never ridden in a 33avs in rough water. Just ran next to him in some 3 foot LOTO slop.

A friend has a 33avs with the same power as me. He runs 6mph faster. With 502mpi's, I'll see 74 and he says he runs 80. Running next to him, his boats seems to run a little bit flatter. Cabin size is similar, but the 33avs does not have an enclosed head.

Got the right boat for you. My 2008 Avanti is up for sale.. True 33, twin 525's. Well known on the PR circuit, and if you search some of the threads/posts RE my Avanti,, she loves the roguh water.

I used to boat on the lake Mich. so I know what I wanted.
Might able to help with the financing too.
