Question Backflushing - Procedure

How does one do this. Noticed some bits missing of the impeller and would like to get them out. Motor is a Merc. 502 with Whipple.
Thanks for the help.

Kokopelli,

I remove the inlet hose form the thermostat housing and attach a garden hose. I usually secure it with a hose clamp. Lay the seawater pump outlet hose in the bilge. Let the garden hose run 5 to 10-min. You should see the pieces form the impeller come out of the hose.
