Just wanted to see if anybody has had there transmissions rebuilt lately. Was wondering what people are paying.
Took my 2000 F150 2wd in and they want $1800 for rebuild and them doing all the work.
I was thinking of taking a chance with a junk yard one. I might get rid of this truck soon. Just sucks, The truck only has 62k on it.
Thanx

im a mechanic from the cleveland area, if ya wanna sell it let me know, 1800 is really not bad, iv worked for several gm dealers and quite a few of my rebuilds were much higher then that. Also i would recc calling garys trans in berea/middleburg on bagley, very good builders and good prices

4 R7OW. The only differecne would be a different starter. I could send you the started that goes with this one if yours is the other.
If you decide you want this one you could have it for $900. We were keeping anything over $900.

I am a trans tech for Team Ford in Marietta Ga. There is no way you can just swap a 4R100 with a 4R70w the pcm is the differance. A 4R100 has a differant shift stratagy and the way converter locks up different. It will not work without a different pcm and trans harness. The starters are the same. If you are at a ford dealer that price sounds like a good price. I also want to say in 2001 they only offered a 4r70w. I think they did away with the 7700# package and that was the only way in that year model you could get a 4R100.

Just found out it is a 4r70w . I heard to it can't be swapped with a different one.
I called some junk yards and they want $700.-$800. range
I already have around $250. for removal and inspection.
So another $250. for install plus the used transmission for $700. I will have 1,200 in it for a used one that might be bad or go soon.
Guess I will just have this one rebuilt. He gives a 3year/36k tranferable warranty to.
Thanks-Guys

The transmisssion would not go into third right away(few second delay that got worse), Either it would stay in second for a long time or just slip out of gear(like in neutral) before going into third.
