Are all 1:1 velvet drive trans with flange output shaft made to take the thrust of a strait inboard setup?

Yes on the Velvet drive, that was the original use. I don't think any of the crash boxes are designed with thrust bearings.

I'm trying to put together an IB engine/driveline that's as light as possible to go into a cracker box racer.
Looking at LS1 combined with the lightest trans possdible, or maybe a crash box.

put a powerglide w/out a converter, thats the s#@t !!!!! they make a drive to run the ft pump, run a manual valve body and it will haul ass ! Rob

I think the real crackerbox racers dont run anything, it's just the prop shaft bolted to the motor.
I want to keep it light and small, but I still want neutral. And I already have a crashbox hat's been sitting in my basement for the last 10 years.

The last cracker box i saw was a direct drive, shaft bolted to the flywheel of a Gray 6 cyl. Turning off the key was neutral. Yikes!
