Default increasing trim tab size?

Has anyone increased the length or width of their existing trim tabs?

I have a baja 252 and was wondering if increasing the width or length of the tabs would help improve the ride in rough water and/or help decrease the chine walk over 50mph. Any input will be appreciated.

If your boat is chinewalking at just over 50 mph you need to check for loose gimbal bushings and slop in the steering cable, trim tabs won't do alot for chinewalking unless they are huge. Smitty

Like was said, if you're chinewalking at 50mph, there is a problem or something needs to be changed. Try a 4 blade REV4 prop.

would the bigger tabs give it a smoother ride in choppy water? Has anybody increased the size of there existing tabs (without putting on all new tabs)?

If you make the Bennet style tabs bigger, you most likely just break the rams or other tab parts. Bigger tabs probably won't make an extreme difference anyway. Its still going to be a 25' boat.

I did exactly what your thinking of doing,I built stainless tabs to replace my bennets, about 24" long, made 1/2 hinges, left the other 1/2on the hull and used the factory twin rams. They work ok but I still want k-planes,it's just I have no where left to mount the mech indicator. I can't post pics anymore as I am just a free member but if you search back thru any trim tab post that I posted on I have posted pics of them in the past,Smitty
