it will pry off with flat blade the book has you loctight the new back on but most don't as you don't want any to get down in to dis. shaft. your choice!

If it's Thunderbolt ignition don't worry about it, as it's common for the rotor/shutter wheel to come off rather hard. Being careful not to bend the shaft, pry the rotor/ wheel up and off the shaft with a screwdriver. Don't worry about damaging the shutter wheel as the new rotor comes with a new one.
