hello and thanks in advance for your help. i had a post a while back and someone helped out with a diagram for wiring however i had a difficult time making it out. it probably had the answer to my question but i couldn't read it.
i am doing a test (floor run) on my engines this weekend and have the TB-1V ignition. i am not going to have the main harness hooked up for this and just need to know what wires i will need to hook up to the COIL and BATTERY. The wires that i recall that need to be hooked up are the PURPLE and GREY from the module. the others are color coded to the distributor as well as a ground wire.
i just need to know what colors go to the positive and negetive side of the coil as well as the possitive and negetive of the battery. also i would like to use the ignition key switch as well. it seems like there is 3 post on the back of that. i could probably use a generic push type starter switch but i would rather use the extra merc key switch that i have instead.
anyone with any advice would be greatly appreciated. i thought about using a HEI dist. for simplicity for this test however i would like to make sure the ignition that i am going to use long term works OK.
Thanks again,
john

all you need to hook up is a + wire to the + side of the coil..if the module is grounded it should ground through the battery negative cable. purple goes to the + side of the coil, grey - side of the coil..hook up your battery cable to your starter, then to the battery, hook up your negative battery cable to the back of the block..on the back of your key switch it should be marked b-battery,i- for ignition, and s - for start a- is for assory.run a fused wire from your battery to b-on the switch, run a wire from the + side of the coil to the i- on the switch, run a wire from the s- on the inside pole on the starter to the s on the back of the switch..don't worry about the - side of the coil unless your hooking up a tach..
i'll post the results this weekend.
