See this thread:

I've gotten my F-350 dually "stuck" (or just spinning tires) pulling my boat through a wet grass field; and been forced to lock into 4x4. No one can promise you that you will not have problem.
See my signature and keep a tow strap handy: as well as a friend with another truck when visiting ramps you don't know well.

Sydwayz,
I read that forumn and commented on it also. I dont have any issues right now with spinning tires but I'm sure it helps that I have 305/55/20 Nitto Terra Graplers and only pulling a 23' Baja that ways 4300lbs. I have dropped on real steep ramps and havent had a problem yet butI'ms ure that extra weight is going to change the situation. I always carry a tow strap cause it is 2wd (wanted 4wd but couldnt pass up the deal). I'm thinking weight in the back of the truck to would possibly do the trick.

Nothing you can do except give it a try and see what it does. As you know, rarely do you see/use a dry ramp. When retrieving the boat, normally the back of the boat is floating off the trailer as you lock in the winch strap. This is giving you a fair amount of tongue weight. As you move up the ramp, the rear of the boat will settle onto the trailer, and your tongue weight will decrease. The incline of the ramp will also slightly affect this weight transfer. Additional weight in the back of the truck may help, but it's also just going to be more weight that you have to drag around all the time decreasing mileage and adding to the sustained load on the truck counting against your weight ratings.
You may look into the water sacks that they put in the back of trucks for winter traction. This way you can drain out the water weight and add it back when you need it.
