Hydros are usually pretty good right out of the box. Hydromotive does have what they refer to as a recreational lab job which I believe is only sharpen the leading edge and slight thinning. Hear it's worth a couple most of the time. I have a pair of 31 Hydro P5 Plus, the 16" ones, that were done by Throttle Up. They have had the diameter cut down and a ton of work done to them to reshape the blades to a Hering profile. They accelerate like crazy and work pretty well on my boat, but due to the high X are a little slow to get on plane, was told a little longer hub would cure that, just have not gone there yet. Might consider selling them, or work something vs those Herings you have.

P.S. So you understand me here .... I do realize the Herings are worth more.

When thinning and sharpening the P5-x's (which I have done at Herring), I can usually run one pitch steeper at the same rpm... ie.. i pick up about 150-200 rpm.

This makes the bigger prop faster at any given rpm.

Hydromotive sent me a 27P5 29'VR1 it has great slip factor but a 28 Bravo 1 got me better numbers as well better all around performance. I wish they would have put me into a quad with the rounder ears. I figured they knew better. The P5 gives transom lift single vees usually need better bow lift. Have 28 and 30 quads forsale if any interest,

Labbing the P5X is a wonderful acceleration advantage. (best part of the ending sum)

Rpm gains can be in the 150 WOT area. (not always reflective in speed)

I can't believe Hering would actually work on Hydros for more reasons than I have time to type. (that doesn't mean I don't like Hydro props, cause I do.)

Hydro rec. Lab........yeh OK

Julies' out of business.

Call us if we can help.

Brett,

I live down the street from the Hering manufacturing shop in Marysville Washington. The production manager is a friend of mine. They have balanced, trued, sharpened, and tweeked, several different manufacturers props for me. I also run their props when doing poker runs.

OK,

Hering doesn't typically work on competitive propellers for obvious reasons.

When I worked for and managed the Mercury Racing propeller Lab, we would only work on Mercury props. Now, I will and do work on all manufacturers propellers. We have put together templates and numbers for many manufacturers props with our own Labbing recipes as well as OEM numbers for standard geometry.

What matters is, the best performance your set up can achieve.

Take care,
Brett
